His collection of instruments is as wide and varied as the cultures he researched. Following is a brief description of just some of the more unusual instruments contained in Ron’s collection. 1) Gaelic Harp Ron obtained while in Ireland in 1956.

3) “Pineapple” Uku.
4) Martin 10-string “Tiple.”
5) Venezuelan baritone ukulele, “Cuban Tres” design.
6) Syrian drum.
7) 4-string tenor guitar.

10) Himalayan stringed instrument, played with a bow, found in Afghanistan and Nepal.
11) Appalachian cherry-wood dulcimer.
12) African split wooden drums (Gatos).

17) “Spin drums” which are spun back and forth in the hands, causing the strikers at the end of the strings to beat on the small drums.

20) Castanets which Ron obtained while living in Spain in 1953.
