Just as uncompromising and instructive was Mr. Hubbard’s work in the director’s chair. He ultimately directed seven training films, while not only scripting and scoring dozens more but also leaving the technology and training materials through which others could carry on—a full thousand pages of text to codify the whole of the filmmaking art. All told, this work is reflective of a profound love and understanding of the cinematographic process, and may be described as the single most definitive statement on the making of memorable films.
