Among the places L. Ron Hubbard lived and worked, there are those of supreme significance—the landmarks of Scientology which will always resonate with his presence and where he left an indelible stamp on our history. One such landmark is Ron’s house on Linksfield Ridge in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he moved in September 1960. For it was here he developed virtually every introductory line of our organisations—advancing into the public phase of Scientology and setting the course for a new civilisation. Extensive research was done, with meticulous attention paid to the smallest details, to ensure this house was restored to full historical accuracy. Careful review of documents, photographs and interviews with those who were there with him were consulted to ensure you will experience Ron’s Linksfield Ridge house as it actually was when he lived there. You’ll walk into the same living room where Ron entertained staff and students from the org and audited members of his domestic staff. You’ll see his study and the desk where he sat. On the shelves are the reference works he consulted in his research, some of the books in his library which are mentioned in his lectures and writings, the film camera he used in Africa, and other personal possessions. When you enter his personal office, you’ll find the original bust of Ron sculpted by world-renowned artist Coert Steynberg, the same that today stands in every Scientology organisation. Here Ron drafted the bill of rights, constitution and penal code he wrote to bring freedom to a nation, and on display are all the subsequent awards he has received from African countries for his humanitarian works. Here you can truly walk in Ron’s footsteps as he set the course for a civilisation and paved the way to freedom and opportunity for millions of Africans. |
